Today, the New Hampshire Senate voted 16-8 in support of SB 434 as amended, yet another book ban bill that would jeopardize students’ access to books, performances, and other school materials based on the personal politics or beliefs of one person. This bill’s passage comes just months after Governor Ayotte vetoed HB 324, which was sustained in the House by a vote of 183-167.

Push to Mandate Open Enrollment Would Preemptively Subvert Will of Voters Before Annual School District Meetings in March

Today, the New Hampshire House Labor Committee held a public hearing on HB 1704, the latest union busting bill proposed by anti-labor lawmakers who want to weaken workers’ rights and collective bargaining. At the time of the public hearing, 761 people had signed in to oppose HB 1704; 21 individuals had signed in to support HB HB 1704.

Recently, it was reported that the New Hampshire House Education Committee Chair sent messages through a Signal chat group advocating for 'segregated schools'.

The New Hampshire House voted to reject HB 675, a bill carried over from the 2025 session that sought to mandate a statewide school budget cap. Today’s vote follows the rejection of similar language as part of the HB 2 state budget bill in 2025 as well as the rejection of petition warrant articles to institute local per pupil spending caps at annual school district meetings across the state last year.
