In response to the serious student loan debt burden shouldered by many NEA members, NEA Member Benefits has teamed up with SAVI to offer a highly cost-effective and unique solution for navigating the maze of federal teacher loan forgiveness programs. The engine that powers the Student Loan Forgiveness Navigator (the “Navigator”) is the brainchild of SAVI, a Washington, DC-based company with a strong background in student loan policy and advocacy.
The Navigator, dubbed the “Turbo Tax for Student Loans,” takes the guesswork and paperwork out of a very complex process to help borrowers make better decisions regarding the best plan for their circumstances. The online tool helps reduce the confusion among such options as loan repayment, forbearance, forgiveness and deferment; assists in the completion of complicated application paperwork; and makes annual plan re-enrollment and certification much easier.
The Navigator is available to NEA members via the NEA Member Benefits website. Members, and their family members, are welcome to use the Navigator’s free calculator and related tools.
A premium version of the Navigator, which includes enrollment and analysis support for one year, is being offered at a 66% discount to members at a cost of only $29.95. Members have access to a dedicated toll-free number and online chat support, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., ET. It is anticipated that members who qualify for student loan forgiveness may realize projected annual savings of up to approximately $1,500 per year by using the Navigator.
