Granite State educators back Maggie to represent the Second District
Nashua, NH – Today, the National Education Association – New Hampshire (NEA-NH) formally recommended New Hampshire Second Congressional District Congressional candidate Maggie Goodlander for election to the United States Congress.
“In classrooms across the Granite State, public school teachers do more than just teach – they inspire, nurture, and empower our students to fulfill their potential. We owe it to our educators to ensure that they have the benefits, funding, and support they deserve,” said Maggie Goodlander. “I’m beyond honored to receive a recommendation from the New Hampshire National Education Association.”
As a former Birch Hill Elementary School student, Maggie knows firsthand the lasting positive impact that a strong public education can make. From teaching constitutional law at the University of New Hampshire and Dartmouth College, Maggie knows from experience the important role that educators play in encouraging the potential, independence, and character of students. Maggie believes that every family should have access to high-quality education, from preschool to the trades, community college, and four-year college. In Congress, Maggie is committed to holding the federal government accountable to fulfilling commitments under the IDEA Act, supporting increased wages and recruitment efforts for early childhood education teachers, bolstering trade program opportunities, and addressing the crushing debt and rising costs of higher education.
NEA-New Hampshire is the largest union of public employees in the state. Founded in 1854, the New Hampshire State Teachers Association became one of the “founding ten” state education associations that formed the National Education Association in 1857. Known today as NEA-NH, their core mission to advocate for the children of New Hampshire and public-school employees, and to promote lifelong learning, remains true after more than 165 years. NEA-NH’s members are public school employees in all stages of their careers, including classroom teachers and other certified professionals, staff and instructors at public higher education institutions, students preparing for a teaching career, education support personnel and those retired from the profession.

NEA-NH is the latest in an outpouring of support for Goodlander from key policy groups, including the League of Conservation Voters, Brady PAC, EMILYs List, VoteVets, New Politics, Defend the Vote, End Citizens United, and Elect Democratic Women. She has also gained endorsement from major labor groups in New Hampshire, including AFL-CIO, American Postal Workers Union, LiUNA!, The Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire, The North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, and AFT New Hampshire, among others. Dozens of local and regional elected officials have backed Goodlander, including Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Representative Annie Kuster (NH-02), and Representative Chris Pappas (NH-01). Goodlander also garnered the support of Former New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and the New Hampshire Democratic Party. Federal leaders have joined New Hampshire leadership in endorsing Goodlander, including Former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton, as well as 150 women leaders who’ve been on the frontlines of the fight for reproductive freedom.
