CONCORD, NH – OCTOBER 25, 2021- During his time as Mayor of Somersworth, Mayor Hilliard has used his voice as an elected leader to fight for more funding for public education and partnered with NEA-NH to expose school voucher schemes that threaten to damage our kids’ education and raise property taxes.
Mayor Hilliard’s track record as a leader in this regard has earned him the support of NEA-NH, the only statewide organization that represents the Hilltop city’s educators.
“We’ve always maintained that educator voices should be heard as decisions are being made that impact our students and classrooms. As an educator, Dana brings unique qualifications and background to the mayor’s office to help ensure that our students receive the help and support they deserve,” said Megan Tuttle, NEA-NH President.
“Dana has consistently stood up for public education. We know he is committed to protecting public education, our students, and educators. He understands that public schools are the heart of the communities they serve and do much more than just teach children,” said Tuttle. “We’re confident Dana’s experience uniquely prepares him to be a leader during this critical time for students and educators.”
Over the final stretch of the campaign, NEA-NH will be working to communicate to our members and the voters of Somersworth about the recommendation made today.
