CONCORD, NH – Today, NEA-New Hampshire (NEA-NH) formally recommended Congressman Chris Pappas for the U.S. Senate.

“It’s an honor to have the support of NEA-NH. Growing up in Manchester public schools, I saw firsthand how New Hampshire’s dedicated educators strengthen our communities and help shape the next generation of leaders,” said Congressman Chris Pappas. “In the Senate I will keep fighting to ensure New Hampshire students have access to the resources they need to succeed and our teachers have the support they deserve.”

“Throughout his time in Congress, Chris Pappas has been a strong voice and advocate for New Hampshire’s public school educators and our students,” said Megan Tuttle, President of NEA-New Hampshire. “NEA-New Hampshire is proud to recommend Chris Pappas for the United States Senate because we know he will continue to partner with educators and communities to ensure that every student has access to safe, just, and high-quality public schools, colleges, and universities. Granite State students, educators, and families can count on Chris to keep advocating for them in the Senate.”

Congressman Pappas led the fight to restore $27 million in federal education funds for New Hampshire withheld by the Trump Administration. He has stood firm against ongoing efforts in Washington to dismantle public education and prevent federal resources from getting to our students, educators, and communities. He continues to lead efforts to restore funding gutted by the Trump Administration for critical programs in New Hampshire to help lower-income and first-generation students afford higher education and pursue degrees in critical-need fields.

Pappas fought against Trump’s budget bill that created the first national private school voucher-style program, which threatens billions in funds to public schools and voted against an amendment that would have decimated Title I to create a voucher program. Pappas was also a co-sponsor of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, comprehensive labor legislation to protect workers’ right to stand together and bargain for fairer wages, better benefits, and safer workplaces.

About NEA-New Hampshire

NEA-New Hampshire is the largest union of public employees in the state. Founded in 1854, the New Hampshire State Teachers Association became one of the “founding ten” state education associations that formed the National Education Association in 1857. Known today as NEA-NH, our mission to advocate for the children of New Hampshire and public-school employees, and to promote lifelong learning, remains true after more than 165 years. Our members are public school employees in all stages of their careers, including classroom teachers and other certified professionals, staff and instructors at public higher education institutions, students preparing for a teaching career, education support personnel and those retired from the profession.
