NEA-NH Recommends Jay Kahn for Senate District 10

CONCORD, NH – September 22, 2020 – NEA-New Hampshire announced their recommendation of Jay Kahn for Senate District 10 today.

“As chair of the education committee in the state senate, Jay has accomplished a great deal for our students and educators,” said Megan Tuttle, NEA-NH President. “His efforts helped secure one of the largest increases in school funding in state history, and his continued work on the school funding commission will be critical in the next legislature to make further progress on this critical issue for students and property tax payers.”

Among his many accomplishments this session, Senator Kahn was also prime sponsor of legislation to better protect educators and students from acts of violence in schools after chairing a committee that studied this issue. That legislation was signed into law as part of HB 1558, an omnibus education bill passed under his leadership despite the challenges faced during this pandemic.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of NH’s teachers, paraprofessionals and other essential staff represented by NEA-NH,” said Jay Kahn in response to the announcement, “I’m grateful for all they do for our kids, and their dedication, professionalism and agility during the COVID-19 crisis.”

“His track record and commitment to students makes him a leader in supporting public education,” said Tuttle. “Over the coming weeks, NEA-NH will be working with our members across Senate District 10 to help get the vote out for Jay,” said Tuttle.
