Money Available for School Sports Teams in New Hampshire from California Casualty

The race for a 2018 Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant from California Casualty is now on.

Public high schools and middle schools in New Hampshire that are in need of financial help for their sports programs are encouraged to apply at www.calcasathleticsgrant.com. Applications must be received by January 15, 2018 for consideration for the 2017/2018 academic year.  Qualifying teams can score up to $3,000.

The grant is named for California Casualty Chairman Emeritus Tom Brown, who understands that valuable lessons such as pride and confidence lead to success in the classroom and in the community.

Last year, Manchester West High School received $1,000. It was one of 79 public middle and high schools from 33 states that shared $83,000 in athletic grants from California Casualty. Many of the schools face economic challenges and have experienced financial reductions to their sports programs.

The funds were used to purchase much needed equipment for the Manchester West High softball and baseball teams, including uniforms and bats.

“All students should have the opportunity to compete,” said Lisa Almeida, Assistant Vice President. “California Casualty’s 66 year commitment to educators and schools also reaches to athletic fields.”

Since its inception in 2011, nearly $600,000 dollars have been awarded to almost 500 schools across the nation.

Applications are being taken at www.calcasathleticsgrant.com. The deadline for consideration is January 15, 2018, with 2017/2018 recipients announced in April.
