FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
- Who should attend? All supporters of public schools welcome! Students, parents, families, educators, school, business, and community leaders all encouraged to attend. Childcare is available for families with pre-registration. Students and youth welcome to attend any portion of the program as well.
- What does this day include? Our day includes briefings on the critical education issues facing New Hampshire, followed by opportunities for skill building, issue workshops, State House tours, meetings with elected officials, and - depending on the legislative calendar - legislative public hearings or committee meetings.
- Why a public education day at the State House? By coming together, we can show strong, broad, visible public support for public education in New Hampshire, and support policymakers to make decisions in the best interest of public school students. This day is a great opportunity to learn about state and local efforts and connect with others.
- Is there childcare? Childcare is available with prior registration for ages 16 months to 12 years old. Childcare providers are CPR certified and have childcare experience. After registering for the day, participants will receive an email to confirm whether childcare is needed and to sign a liability waiver.
- What is the dress code for the day? Come as you are most comfortable. Participants choosing to meet with elected officials or attend a committee hearing may want to wear ‘business casual’ or a nice top, but all are welcome.
- Where should I park? Free parking is available at Double Tree by Hilton. The meeting location is .2 miles to/from the State House, with two crosswalks. There is also parking in front of the State House. Transportation is available between locations for those with mobility issues, with signed waiver at event.
- What age students and youth should attend? Grade 5 to young adult students and youth are encouraged to participate in the full day of programs. Student and youth only breakout meetings provide an opportunity for youth leadership and conversation. It is never too early to learn how to advocate for strong public schools!
