In Search of Greatness

MEMBERSHIP TRAININGS CANCELED.

The Spring Membership Trainings have been canceled. While we deal with current circumstances, membership continues to be a priority for NEA-NH. As we examine ways to assist local leaders gain membership, at this time it appears the best way we can do that is to provide timely and useful information about developments at the federal and state level, to encourage members and leaders to work with their Uniserv Directors to resolve issues and to protect member rights, and to work with our education allies to make certain changes to the profession benefit educators and education employees and their students. We all hope for a well-deserved retirement with financial security. NEA-NH and NEA Member Benefits are pleased to present seminars to help you plan and prepare. Portion of 2018-2019 NEA-NH Dues Dollars Not Tax Deductible

The Revenue Reconciliation Act of 1993 eliminated the individual federal income tax deduction for lobbying expenses paid or incurred as part of membership dues. This affects only those members who itemize deductions and meet the two-percent minimum requirement for additional miscellaneous deductions. Those members will not be able to deduct that portion of the NEA–NH 2018-19 union dues attributable to lobbying. The non-deductible portion of the dues for 2018-2019 is 9.68% or $44.54 for a full-time teacher.
