Protect Collective Bargaining – Tell Your Representative(s) to vote NO on HB 1704!
This anti-union bill goes to the full House for a vote this week! HB 1704 is a direct assault on one of the key components of collective bargaining that we know is used against unions all the time. It seeks to divide workers to weaken their efforts to negotiate fair pay, benefits, safety provisions, and respect in the workplace.
Mandatory Open Enrollment Bill Expected to Go to Committee of Conference
HB 751, the fast-tracked mandatory open enrollment bill, is expected to be heading toward a committee of conference next. This is where members of the House and Senate try to reach compromise on a bill to make it more likely to succeed—and in this case, try to make it more palatable to the Governor and state representatives.
While conferees may make adjustments around the edges, we know that any mandatory open enrollment policy will undermine New Hampshire’s public education system and make it nearly impossible for our school districts to provide a quality education to every student.
We need to keep the drumbeat up to urge lawmakers to pump the brakes on mandatory open enrollment. If you haven’t already, please use our digital form to email your state representative(s) and the Governor and urge them to reject HB 751!
