As we mark American Education Week, I want to take a moment on behalf of our entire union to extend my deepest appreciation to each of you. This week is dedicated to honoring and celebrating public education and the dedicated professionals who make it possible, but I believe your commitment to students deserves recognition every single day.
American Education Week celebrates the wide range and incredible team of educators who help our students succeed. From paraeducators and teachers to clerical staff, facilities staff, bus drivers, and more. Every one of you plays a vital role in supporting students and families.
Day in and day out, you show up for students with patience, creativity, and compassion. From the front office to the lunch room and everywhere in between, you make our schools awesome. Your work helps to build an environment in which curiosity is nurtured, challenges are met with support, and every student is reminded that they matter.
As your union president, I want you to know that I see you, I value you, and I am committed to fighting for the respect, resources, and working conditions you deserve. Your voice is the foundation of our collective strength, and your dedication to students is the motivation behind everything we do.
American Education Week is an important time to pause to reflect on the critical work you do every day - and to share your gratitude. If you want to join the celebration this week, here are a few ways you can show the educators in your life your appreciation:
-
Nominate a New Hampshire educator for one of NEA-New Hampshire's annual awards.
-
Send an e-card to your favorite educator(s).
-
Spread the word - share our content on Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky.
Education is so much more than a job. It's a calling. As an educator, you strive to connect with each student to discover their passions and their potential.
Thank you for your commitment to the success of every student and for all you do to make our public schools places where every New Hampshire child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
