PRESS RELEASE: NEA-New Hampshire Recommends Joyce Craig for Governor

NEA-NH President Megan Tuttle: “NEA-New Hampshire is proud to recommend Joyce Craig’s campaign for governor.”

MANCHESTER, NH – Today, NEA-New Hampshire (NEA-NH), the state’s largest educators’ union, is recommending Joyce Craig’s campaign for governor. NEA-NH, which represents over 15,000 public school employees across the state, stands firmly behind Joyce Craig’s mission to strengthen our public schools, support our students, and put an end to the state’s current voucher scheme that is gouging taxpayers.

“NEA-New Hampshire is proud to recommend Joyce Craig’s campaign for governor. New Hampshire’s students and educators deserve a governor who will have their backs. That means adequately funding our public schools, fighting for pay raises for educators, and making sure every child in our state can thrive. That person is Joyce Craig,” said NEA-NH President Megan Tuttle. “Joyce is the only candidate in this race committed to those causes. She has the record to back it up, both from her time serving on the Manchester School Board and as mayor. We know she will do the same in the corner office, which is why we are ready to put in the work to ensure that Joyce Craig is the next Governor of the Granite State.”

“I’m thrilled to have the recommendation of NEA-New Hampshire in this campaign,” said Joyce Craig. “As a proud graduate of New Hampshire public schools, and now a proud parent of a New Hampshire public school teacher, I know how hard our teachers work to provide the best education for our students. I first got into public service because I believed we could do better for our students and teachers. As governor, I will stand up to attacks on our schools, make sure our Education Commissioner supports public education, and invest in strong public schools in every community so every New Hampshire student can succeed.”

As Mayor, Joyce Craig led the effort to establish core curriculum across the city, reduce class sizes, increase teacher pay, and deliver historic investments to Manchester public schools. While Joyce has fought to support our educators and students, Kelly Ayotte has repeatedly voiced support for Frank Edelblut and New Hampshire’s voucher scheme that is stripping millions of taxpayer dollars from public schools and sending them to unaccountable private and religious schools.

With the recommendation of NEA-New Hampshire, Joyce has earned the support of 19 labor unions representing over 100,000 members.
