This inspiring quote above was from a thank you letter we received from a student who was a recipient of SMCF financial assistance. Financial assistance that was a result of the fund-raising we do throughout the year so we can help students like the one who wrote that note.
The Scott McGilvray Children’s Fund (SMCF), NEA-NH’s charitable foundation, provides goods and services to your students who would not otherwise be able to afford them.
As educators in classrooms across the state, you see firsthand the students who struggle to achieve success. Our mission is to make sure that a child’s physical, social, and/or emotional needs do not stand in the way of their success in school.
The Scott McGilvray Children’s Fund provides New Hampshire public school children in need with some of the essentials they require for learning: e.g. clothes, medical care, educational supplies, and more all year round.
The assistance we provide can be as simple as new clothes that fit, warm hats and mittens, or a pair of gym shoes.
We provided new coats, boots, hats and mittens to numerous school kids who did not have any during this cold winter. We also partnered with other agencies to provide specialized equipment or services to students with special education needs. We are proud to be part of a group that does so much to help our NH children.
To raise the funds need to help these children, the Scott McGilvray Children’s Fund is once again holding the “On Course Fore Kids” Golf Tournament on July 25, 2019 at the stunning Canterbury Woods Golf Course.
This is the thirteenth golf tournament which is our biggest fund-raiser for the year. After expenses, all proceeds go toward helping New Hampshire children be successful in school whether that is eyeglasses, a warm coat or help with educational supplies.
In order to make this a success, we need your support and ask you to consider entering the tournament for a fun day of golfing. In addition to helping NEw Hampshire kids in need, your entry fee provides you with continental breakfast, greens fees for 18 holes with cart, golf goodie bag, and awards luncheon.
Each year nearly 80 golfers spend a fun-filled day on the course followed by a catered lunch and other activities. New this year will be a silent auction to accompany fantastic raffle prizes to add to the fun and fund-raising.
You are very welcome to join the fun and spend a relaxing day on the course supporting a great cause! Or, if you or your local would like to sponsor with a financial commitment or raffle items, it is always appreciated! The wonderful part of becoming a sponsor is that your donation goes back into your communities, helping those students who need it the most. Your sponsorship truly makes a difference in the lives of so many children.
The SMCF was founded in 1996 and renamed in 2018 in honor of NEA-NH past president Scott McGilvray. Any public school employee can submit a request to help a school student with needed items.
