On July 2, the New Hampshire Supreme Court issued a landmark decision in the ConVal school funding lawsuit, upholding most of the 2023 Superior Court's ruling. It declared that the State's current base adequacy aid is unconstitutionally low and that the legislature must provide at least $7,356.01 per pupil rather than the current $4,182 base adequacy aid provided by the State. This is a major victory for students, schools, and communities across New Hampshire — and a turning point in our fight for fair and constitutional school funding.
Join us for a webinar with attorneys from the ConVal legal team and NH School Funding Fairness Program staff to break down:
- What the Court's ruling laid out
- Why it's such a big deal for public schools and property taxpayers
- What the $7,356.01 "minimum threshold" means compared to the current $4,182 base amount
- What's next for the legislature — and how you can help hold them accountable
We'll also discuss how this ruling connects to the new state budget that started last week, which once again fails to meet the constitutional standard for funding set by the Courts, and what that means for our advocacy moving forward.
