NEA-NH Recommends Volinsky for Governor

Volinsky believes as we do that our schools must be safe environments that are funded fairly.  July 30, 2020 – CONCORD, NH – Public school students, educators and their families cannot trust Chris Sununu as governor now and can certainly not afford to have him remain in office for another term. Governor Chris Sununu failed students, their parents, and the communities in which they live. He failed teachers, paraeducators, lunch workers, school bus drivers, secretaries and every other education employee working in New Hampshire long before he proposed his own self-described Swiss Cheese approach to re-opening schools during the Corona […]

NEA-NH to DeVos: We will fight every effort to open unsafe schools

July 9, 2020 – CONCORD, NH – No one wants to see our children back in schools more than us. No one. But the same instinct that moves a teacher to go to any length to protect their class, is also telling us that rushing our children back into classrooms, hallways and buses until we know it is safe, is clearly not the best thing to do. NEA-NH Recommends Plunkett for District 2 Council Seat

NEA-NH announced their backing of Leah Plunkett for District 2 Executive Council today. “As a parent, educator and NEA-NH member, Leah knows first-hand how a high quality public education can change a student’s life for the better,” said Megan Tuttle, NEA-NH President. “That’s one of the many reasons why we are excited to recommend her. We know as a member of the Executive Council, Leah will be a fierce advocate for our public school students, staff and their families.”  The Executive Council provides a critical check on the governor, assessing state contracts, and vetting candidates for important positions such as […]

Legislative Update: Getting Ready for 2020

Things have started to heat back up on the Government Relations front. Here’s what we’re looking at so far: Protecting Educators The committee to study violence in schools has concluded and issued their report. We engaged very heavily with this committee. Special thanks to Rachel Hawkinson and Esther Dickinson for their integral help in making this a successful study committee for us! In summary the committee is acknowledging both the seriousness of the issue with educators being assaulted as well as the need for changes. In the short term they are recommending statutory fixes that we suggested to them which […]
