NEA-NH local associations in the Capital Region saw their efforts to mobilize voters pay off as new collective bargaining agreements were approved at the polls last night and during Town Meetings earlier this month. First, let it be said: Black history is American history. But observing Black History Month in February gives us a chance to be intentional about learning that history. Of course it is wonderful to recognize the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. But there are lots of ways to go beyond the typical inventors and sports heroes so that every child can connect to and learn from the amazing contributions of the African American community. Local Screening of To Kill a Mockingbird to be Catalyst for Conversation

On Sunday, January 27, 2019, the New Hampshire Institute for Civics Education (“NHICE”) will screen To Kill a Mockingbird as part of a multi-year statewide program designed to foster conversations with the public on law, justice, and civics. The screening will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the University of New Hampshire School of Law’s Warren B.
