Overwhelming Support Recorded in Tonight’s Votes
NEA-New Hampshire is proud to welcome three new associations; Keene State College Administrative Staff Association (KSCASA), Keene State College Staff Association (KSCSA), and the Keene State College Directors and Supervisors Association (KSCDSA).
These new associations join the Keene State College Adjuncts Association and the Keene State College Education Association as NEA-NH Members.
“We are looking forward to helping the dedicated professionals of Keene State College preserve the campus community they value, and in advocating for a fair, collaborative and transparent working environment,” said Scott McGilvray, NEA-NH President.
The more than 300 members represented by the new Associations join the more than 17,000 current NEA-NH members; the largest public employee union in the state.
Members of the Keene State College Organizing Committee were also delighted with the outcome.
“We all love Keene State College, and we all work hard to put our best foot forward for our students and for the wider community,” said Kim Gagne, KSC Organizing Committee member. “Today’s vote assures that we have a voice in decisions effecting our campus community and a seat at the table to help ensure that these decisions are made fairly and in the best interest of the student body and our community.”
“Organizing a union gives us a voice. It guarantees we have a seat at the table and gives us the ability to stand up for the dignity of our colleagues and sustain the caring community we have at Keene State,” stated Organizing Committee member Marcia Barrett.
“Today’s vote will help us preserve the campus community we all value so much, bring a return to shared governance and unite the campus,” added Ellen Edge from the Organizing Committee. “Peace of mind is what organizing a union means to me. I know I’ll have a community of members that has my best interests and our campus’ best interests at heart.”
NEA New Hampshire has now added ten new associations during the past year. The three new Keene State College units join the Manchester Certified Instructors, Concord Instructional Tutors, Shaker Regional Education Support Professionals Association, Stratham Paraprofessionals Association, UNH Law Faculty, Litchfield Support Staff and Keene Paraprofessionals Association as the newest additions to the NEA-NH family.
