Two weeks ago, we told you about the 195 members of the New Hampshire House that voted against the HB 1475, NEA-NH’s Educator Death Benefit Bill. Was your Representative one of the 195?
Here is the list of all 195 Legislators who voted AGAINST is the list of all 195 Legislators who voted against recognizing the sacrifice that too many of out teachers, ESPs and education employees around the country have made in order to keep our schools safe.
If your Representative was one of them, please contact them and ask them why, with over 170 school shootings having occurred in the past three years, and more and more education professionals being forced into the role of first responder they do not feel they did not feel this modest recognition for those who make the ultimate sacrifice is not deserved.
Many of the Representatives voting against this bill stated that should a teacher, ESP or education employee lose their life as a result of violence, they would be the first to introduce a bill proving a death benefit to that person’s family.
New Hampshire has been fortunate that what has happened in other states has not happened here. Ask your representative why New Hampshire should wait for one to occur here before establishing this benefit.
Finally, let your Representative know that come November, you will remember this vote.
