Over 100 Monadnock Parents, Community Members and Employees Expected to Attend June 17th School Board Meeting to Present Resolution for Improving the District
A grassroots effort in the Monadnock Regional School District that has been gaining strength this past year is now ready to present their recommendations for greater community collaboration, positive change, and open communication and transparency in the district to the School Board.
Trouble is the School Board is making it difficult for the public to be heard and to present the proposal from more than 100 Monadnock parents and community members who are concerned the decisions school officials have made in recent years haven’t been in the best interest of students.
The School Board Chairman refused to put the community member’s proposal on the agenda for the June 17th meeting, eliminated the opening public comment section from the agenda in violation of longstanding Board policy BEDH, and declined to move the meeting to a larger venue to accommodate the anticipated crowd.
In a message to community organizers Board Chair Dick Thackston stated that parents, taxpayers and concerned community members would not be given the opportunity to speak at the public meeting until the very end of the agenda.
The meeting is tonight, June 17th at 7:00PM in the Monadnock Regional Middle High School Library
