The Gilmanton Education Association and the school board have agreed on a three-year contract, both parties announced yesterday. Voters can learn about the agreement and its effect on their taxes in the school deliberative session in the Gilmanton School gymnasium tomorrow starting at 10 a.m.
The agreement calls for significant changes in the health insurance teacher receive, reducing the number of plans and adjusting the portion of the cost paid by teachers. For the first time, for example, teachers with single coverage would pay a portion of the premium, as would couples and families.
“In exchange for these concessions, the salary schedule was adjusted,” the statement says. In total, the statement says, the new contract represents a 6 percent increase in costs over the three years.
While voters at the deliberative session can amend items on the warrant, final decisions will be made in ballot voting March 11.
